Welcome to the AWU Greater NSW Branch website! The Australian Workers' Union is the nation’s oldest trade union with a proud history of representing workers from all walks of life.
AWU members work in industries as diverse as shearing and road works, national parks and pharmaceuticals, fruit-picking and aviation, civil construction and hairdressing, horse racing and chemicals. Even beauticians are AWU members!
So what unites such a disparate bunch of workers? A belief that by working together and standing up for ourselves we have the best chance of receiving a fair wage, decent conditions, safe workplaces and a secure future.
AWU members are not revolutionaries, but we are committed to fighting for what’s fair and decent for our workmates and our families.
The launch of this website is the latest development in creating a union that meets the demands of a modern workforce.
On this site you can keep up to date with the union’s activities, help your workmates sign up to the union, find out about your rights at work and access the tools to ensure your workplace is a safe one.
We look forward to working with our members to create the sort of strong and united trade union that Australians need now, more than ever before.
